Denim label Guess and L.A.-based nonprofit Peace Over Violence invite women to wear jeans in celebration of “Denim Day” on April 23. The global movement was born in 1998, when the Italian Supreme Court unjustly overturned a rape case due a women’s “tight jeans,” and has since been celebrated as a symbol of protest against sexual assault. Guess, who has supported the nonprofit and its many services including counseling, prevention work and more, encourages all women to support the movement and share their denim styles via social media with the hashtag, “denimday.”
