The fifth annual event features a multi-round Tommy Bahama Paddlecross competition where racers sprint the surf, around a quarter to half mile course, and back to the beach. Winners move forward in elimination rounds until one racer in each class is champion. Sierra Nevada hosts a beer garden and Tommy Bahama invites guests to a rum lounge on site. Live bands and hula dancers provide entertainment, and artisans demonstrate the craft of surfboard-making. A pop-up museum showcases historic surfboards, paddle boards, surf photography, and artifacts. The day’s proceeds benefit Heal the Bay and its public marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.
