There were a plethora of Leia buns and armored stormtroopers at the Los Angeles premiere of the newest addition to George Lucas’ famous coming-of-age saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams, held at Hollywood and Highland on Monday, December 14. Actress Daisy Ridley, the newest protagonist in the franchise, arrived in a delicate white Chloé Atelier confection designed by Clare Waight Keller and bold dark eyes devised by makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua. “To contrast with the custom white lace dress I created a fresh smoky eye with a softly defined lash line and feathered lashes,” says Yoshimoto Bua, who used a battery of Chanel colors. Perhaps she took cues from the recent Chanel Métiers d’Art Paris in Rome show for the look, and toned down the rest of Ridley’s face. “I kept the lips and cheeks soft, yet bright,” Yoshimoto Bua adds. So the journey begins. What else will transpire in a galaxy far, far away is anyone’s guess.

“To prep Daisy’s skin, I used Chanel La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream on her face and Sublimage La Crème Yeux under her eyes. I applied Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 20 Beige, Éclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen and Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15 in N°30. I gave her cheeks a touch of color with Chanel Powder Blush in Frivole.”
EYES
“Using Chanel’s Small Contour and Shadow Brush #26 I applied Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Gabrielle and softly defined the lash line with Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso. I defined Daisy’s brows with Chanel’s Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil and Chanel Angled Brow Brush #12. I created feathered lashes to round out Daisy’s eyes using Chanel Limited Edition Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Ultra-Black.”
LIPS
“Keeping Daisy’s lips soft, I first applied Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Beige Innocent and then Limited Edition Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Vaporeuse.”
