Faircloth & Supply designer Phoebe Dahl thinks globally and acts locally. She founded her Los Angeles-based fashion line with a one-for-one business model; one Nepali girl goes to school for every garment sold. To date, over 2,000 girls have received two school uniforms, school supplies, and a one-year scholarship to attend classes through a partnership with Go Campaign and General Welfare Pratisthan. Dahl, who is engaged to actress Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black), studied fashion in San Francisco and London, and was inspired by fabrics at mills in Tokyo and India to launch the collection of women’s designs made of organic linen. Her summer jumpsuits, shorts and sundresses—cinched with drawstrings—available in gray, blue and nude hues are made of fabrics she discovered while traveling abroad, and all of the Faircloth production is done in downtown L.A. Now Dahl is launching a capsule collection of subtly patterned scarves created by the Women Weave mills she visited in India, a trip that also included a stop to meet sponsored schoolgirls in Nepal shortly before the massive earthquake in the region. Back stateside, Dahl lists her favorite L.A. haunts.

KNUCKLE & CLAW The best lobster roll you will ever have. The lobster is flown in straight from the East Coast every day, they toast the bun to perfection and cover it in garlic butter. It has a very East Coast fisherman feel—plus the owner is my sister!

CAFE STELLA The perfect place to sit outside and have a cocktail. Next, head into the restaurant for a glass of red wine and a delicious French meal. It really feels like you are sitting in a quaint restaurant in Paris.

RAMIREZ TRAN SALON Ariel does the best hair color ever, plus her outfits are always on point and she’s great fun to talk to.

HOLLYWOOD FARMERS’ MARKET Flowers! Such fresh beautiful blooms.

SQIRL If you aren’t there before 9:30 a.m., you will wait in a line around the block, so arrive early and get the pesto rice. They make their own almond milk, so be sure you have it with your coffee.

HIROZEN  My favorite sushi spot in the world! It’s in a strip mall and the food is so fresh. Make sure you sit at the bar—as the chef there is by far the best—and always order what is fresh.

PROOF BAKERY The most delicious mini baguette sandwiches are made every day and released at exactly 12:00 p.m. They usually sell out by 1:00 p.m.—they are that good.

ECHO PARK + SILVER LAKE STAIRS The stairs are hidden amongst the hills and are a total secret. The perfect early morning urban hike.
