A wet red carpet didn’t keep the gown-clad guests away from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association‘s 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards held on Sunday, January 11, at the Beverly Hilton. Everyone from stars wearing fitted dresses with chic trains such as Kate Mara, Diane Kruger, and Dakota Johnson, to newly hitched couples George and Amal Clooney and Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe, to a white tux-clad Jared Leto (whose braid rivaled those of Emily Blunt) turned up for the event. The organization anointed Richard Linklater’s Boyhood as Best Picture in the drama category and Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel won in the comedy category. Anderson took it upon himself to personally thank the HFPA members by name in his acceptance speech. “Yorum and Dagmar and Yukiko and Mounawar, Lorenzo, Armando, Houssan, Jean Paul, Hans, Helmut,” he said, “These are the people I want to thank tonight and many others with names nothing like theirs, but equally captivating: Heerpi, Ehrpi, Anka, and so on.”
