California Beauty: Emily Blunt
“The dress was quite Grecian, and it was a softer texture,” said hairstylist Laini Reeves of the white Michael Kors gown Emily Blunt wore to the Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11. Reeves was inspired by the wispy column dress to create a softer hairstyle for the Los Angeles-based actress who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her role as the Baker’s wife in Rob Marshall’s Into the Woods. “She wanted to look fresh and young,” added Reeves, noting that “braids give a younger feeling.” Reeves used sprays and creams from Serge Normant and Malin+Goetz from Birchbox to tuck Blunt’s hair into the chic yet understated updo. Blunt pulled the modern Ladies-of-the-Canyon look together with a matching set of diamond-and-turquoise floral jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.
