The Asian Art Museum welcomed guests to the opening night gala of its Yoga: The Art of Transformation exhibition on Wednesday, February 26. Hosted by gala chairs Kumar and Vijaya Malavalli, guests at the opening celebration got a look at the exhibition’s 131 works grouped into three themed galleries: Yoga and the Body, Yoga and Power, and Yoga and Science, all of which delved into the philosophical underpinnings of the practice and its history. The show used striking visuals to illustrate yoga’s roots in Hinduism, and even Islam and Buddhism. The works of art came from 25 international museums and private collections just in time for the opening night cocktail reception and dinner.
