Valentino‘s Brazilian-born brand ambassador, Carlos Souza, hit the West Coast on Monday, October 24 to celebrate San Francisco’s go-to interior designer Ken Fulk and his new tome, Mr. Ken Fulk’s Magical World (Abrams Books), with a book signing at the Italian brand’s Union Square boutique. Hosted by Valentino and Trevor and Alexis Traina, the night welcomed S.F. bon vivants like Denise Hale, Vanessa Getty, Carol Bonnie and Anne-Sophie Deneve in joining Souza, a beloved fashion figure to the Bay Area scene, as well as Fulk—donning a dapper Valentino Couture embellished military jacket—for a second signing following Fulk’s New York City soiree the week prior (where the guest list touted the likes of Martha Stewart). The special evening continued at new, hotly tipped private dining room Sequoia above Wayfare Tavern, where star chef Tyler Florence prepared a memorable meal before an equally memorable dessert was served: a gilded, chocolate-covered confection facsimiled with Fulk’s new book cover. Guests toasted to the designer’s 250-page, self-penned volume, which delves into his extraordinary world created within the walls of his magic factory, from dreaming up magnificent Bay Area dwellings and architecture to putting on over-the-top special events, including Sean Parker’s fairy-tale union in Big Sur’s ancient Redwood groves.
