More than 1200 leaders in tech, finance and business attended the 11th annual Tipping Point Community Benefit in San Francisco on May 4, in an effort to end poverty in the Bay Area. The record-breaking evening raised more than $16 million to go to selected non-profits in education, housing, employment and family wellness throughout the city.

Notable guests including Vanessa Getty, Marissa Mayer, Trevor and Alexis Traina and Mimi Haas turned out for the Stanlee-Gatti planned black-tie affair at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Attendees, who also included Alec Perkins, Becca Prowda, Heather Ive, Ronnie Lott and Allison Speer, were treated to roast chicken and old-fashioneds, as well as a concert by Phoenix and DJ Ruckus.

Greeting guests at the affair were board chairs Chris James, Amy Banse and Joe Dworetzky, Nadine Burke Harris and Arno Harris, as well as Joe Gebbia, and Emily and Brian Slingerland.

Tipping Point founder and CEO Daniel Lurie delivered an emotional and powerful call to action. “We all numb ourselves to what’s happening around us. But I challenge you, every once in awhile, go for a walk and observe,” said Lurie.” “Then there does come a time when you’ve listened enough. You’ve gathered the information you need. Then you must commit. You must act.”

The event is San Francisco’s largest in the fight against poverty.
