On the heels of its grand reopening this Saturday, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) hosted its highly anticipated annual Modern Ball at the new Snøhetta-designed masterpiece last night on Thursday, May 12. Chaired by Gina Peterson, designed by Stanlee Gatti and sponsored in part by Tiffany & Co., this year’s homecoming gala was the biggest bash at the museum to date and comprised three events: the Gala Dinner, Supper Club, and Post-Modern party. Drawing over 2000 attendees, gowns from Moschino Couture to Gucci swept through the newly minted galleries which saw guests like Vanessa Getty, Komal Shah, Yvonne Force Villareal and Leo Villareal, Instagram Co-founder Mike Krieger, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and Modern Ball 2016 guest of honor, abstract painter Mark Bradford, who created a painting exclusively for the reimagined museum. Attendees enjoyed a lavish dinner, previewed the art, and participated in a live auction in Schwab Hall before enjoying live music and libations at the Supper Club and a late-night dance party at the Post-Modern bash. The sold-out affair, which featured headliners like DJ Mozhgan and ODESZA, lit up the city and its newly revitalized culturescape.
