SFMOMA Bay Area Treasure 2014
SFMOMA’s Modern Art Council (MAC) celebrated the bold achievements of Apple’s design chief Jonathan Ive with an honorary dinner, and presented him with the Bay Area Treasure lifetime achievement award on Thursday, October 30 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco. The celebration, benefiting the museum’s education and exhibition programming, was chaired by MAC member Maria Tenaglia Watson, and included a conversation between Ive—the man behind the look and feel of Apple’s coveted products—and SFMOMA Curator of Architecture and Design Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher and architecture critic Frances Anderton. Upon receipt of the award, Ive joined a list of creative leaders who have reshaped today’s visual culture including filmmaker George Lucas and artist Wayne Thiebaud.
