San Francisco Fall Art & Antique Show Preview Gala
The 2017 San Francisco Fall Art & Antiques Show opened last week at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture Festival Pavilion. The event, now in its 36th year, benefits Enterprise for Youth. Event chair Suzanne Tucker welcomed guests beneath an arbor of vivid poppies, delphiniums and roses.
Fashion designer Andrew Gn surrounded by his many couture clients at the party, was the very popular honorary chair. He flew in from Paris for the evening. “I’m a very serious art and antiques collector, and I was honored and thrilled to be involved with this great fund-raiser for education,” said Gn.
Denise Hale noted that she has been attending every year since the first show. “I would not miss it,” she said, admiring exceptional Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels gems.
Art lovers and antique collectors came to celebrate the 50th anniversary of San Francisco’s historic Summer of Love, and the Flower Power theme, including Aerin Lauder, Trevor and Alexis Traina, Vanessa Getty, Dede Wilsey, Seth Matarasso, Hillary Thomas, O.J. Shansby, and interior designers Kendall Wilkinson, Pamela Babey, Catherine Kwong, Paul Wiseman, Brenda Mickel, Charles de Lisle, Kathy Geissler Best, Eche Martinez, Jay Jeffers and architect Andrew Skurman.
Suzanne Tucker lingered to view contemporary paintings at Martin Muller’s Modernism collection. “The contrast of modern paintings and fine antiques is exciting and energizing,” said Tucker.
James and Elisa Stancil spotted a remarkable gilded table and detailed porcelain paintings among neo-classical treasures at the Carlton Hobbs collection.
Allison Speer gravitated to the dramatic collections of Paris antiquaire, Steinitz to admire floral imagery in Benjamin Steinitz’s collections of porcelain and dramatic boiseries.
Miguel Flores-Vianna and Gil Schafer signed their new books at Hayden & Fandetta’s bookshop, and Andrea Murphrey was happy to take home personalized copies.
At the end of the evening, with many treasures having found new homes, all were very happy. Until next year.
