Bay Area socials and dance devotees gathered at the War Memorial Opera House on Wednesday, January 22, for the San Francisco Ballet’s 2014 Opening Night Gala. Attendees including Yurie Pascarella, Jerry Yang and Akiko Yamazaki, OJ Shansby, Denise Hale, Colin Bailey, Dede Wilsey, Nancy and Paul Pelosi, and Orlando Diaz-Azcuy took in an evening—orchestrated by Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson—of 12 short works showcasing the company and its principle dancers including Yuan Yuan Tan and Maria Kochetkova. Before the performance, guests gathered across the street at City Hall for dinner, and proceeds from the evening went to the San Francisco Ballet’s annual fund. After the curtain fell at War Memorial, guests and company members danced the night away to DJ Chris Clouse back at City Hall.
