San Francisco’s finest as well as top fashion-world names descended upon the de Young museum on Wednesday, March 9 for a black-tie gala celebrating the opening of the museum’s newest and highly anticipated installation, Oscar de la Renta: The Retrospective. Honorary Chairs Annette de la Renta and Dede Wilsey joined exhibition curator André Leon Talley as well as special guest, creative director Peter Copping, in welcoming attendees to a sneak preview of the retrospective. Opening to the public on March 12, the exhibition features over 120 ensembles spanning five decades of de la Renta’s exemplary career. Guests including Vanessa Getty, Denise Hale and de la Renta’s son-in-law and CEO of the Italian label, Alex Bolen, toasted the late designer’s life and career against a backdrop of lush florals inspired by de la Renta’s love of nature and flowers.
