Oscar de la Renta + League to Save Lake Tahoe 2016
A slew of ultra-feminine Oscar de la Renta gowns swept the runway beside North Lake Tahoe’s glimmering shores for the 47th annual League to Save Lake Tahoe fashion show and luncheon at the Schumacher family estate on Saturday, August 6. A staple fixture among fashion lovers across the Golden State, the afternoon affair drew veterans and newcomers alike, including Dede Wilsey, Stephanie Marver, Karen Kubin, Dr. Carolyn Chang, Adolphus Andrews and Mary Beth and David Shimmon, to preview 70-plus styles from the house’s Resort 2017 collection and bridal line, presented by longtime partner Saks Fifth Avenue. From a black pearl and floral embroidered long sleeve gown to a white floral high-low silhouette, the dazzling ensembles—introduced by the late designer’s daughter, Eliza, and her husband and CEO of the Oscar de la Renta empire, Alex Bolen—wowed a crowd of over 640 guests, who together raised over $870,000 towards preserving the lake’s clear blue waters. Since its inception in 1969, the fashion-driven fundraiser has brought in over $21 million to the organization’s ongoing efforts. In spite of creative director Peter Copping’s unexpected departure last month, the annual runway show marked yet another successful, glamorous partnership between the fashion house and the important cause to save Tahoe’s shores.
