“There is style in San Francisco,” declared fashion editor Emily Holt as she welcomed guests to Neiman Marcus Union Square on Wednesday, September 17. Along with Vanity Fair, the former Vogue staffer hosted brunch paired along with a fashion presentation, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Neiman Marcus Art of Fashion advertorial campaign. The roster of attendees included Vanessa Getty, Sobia Shaik, Victoire Reynal, Suzanne Levit, Marybeth Shimmons, Dana Tanabaum, Deepa Pakathanian, and Susan Dunlevy.
Since its inaugural debut in Harper’s Bazaar in 1994, the Art of Fashion has showcased each season’s most anticipated trends through the lenses of famed fashion photographers including Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, and Peter Lindbergh. This fall, UK-based photographer, Nadav Kander, offered a 26-page “surreal and outrospective” interpretation of the campaign featuring looks from nearly 30 designers. This years’s presentation featured models wearing looks inspired by the campaign including Dior, Saint Laurent, Proenza Schouler, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Lanvin, Burberry Prorsum, Bottega Veneta.
