Louis Vuitton, the Paris-based maker of travel trunks and ready-to-wear, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its partnership with the America’s Cup—and the start of sailing races for its namesake cup—at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor on Friday, July 5. Following tradition, the party’s venue was kept secret until guests arrived at the festivities. And, before races for the Louis Vuitton Cup commenced on Sunday, July 7, celebrants watched as American Acrobats performed, musicians from the Magik Magik Orchestra played, and models arrived clad in costumes from New Zealand’s World of Wearable Art (WOW). All of this took place on a cliff near Land’s End, beside the San Francisco Bay where boats will race until a winner is declared this September.
