Style icon and philanthropist Joy Venturini Bianchi may be well known for her signature Gucci lenses and bright red lips, but it’s her dazzling ensembles that keep the fashion crowd buzzing. On Saturday, October 17, Bianchi unveiled 41 pieces spanning six decades from her private collection for an exclusive retrospective and fundraiser at San Francisco’s Hedge Gallery. Benefitting Bianchi’s fervent cause Helpers, roughly 200 guests, including shoe designer Donald J Pliner, photographer Chandler Holmes, and politician Mark Leno, perused the elegant selections, handpicked by Saks Fifth Avenue visual stylist Tim Whalen. Given that the exhibition space could only lodge 41 mannequins, Bianchi could very well open her closet doors once again. After all, four dozen gowns are only a small fraction of the doyenne’s head-turning threads.
