Hudson Grace Celebrates Nick Voulgaris and Douglas Friedman’s New Book in S.F.
San Francisco booklovers including Vanessa Getty, Ken Fulk, and Sloan Barnett dashed in to Hudson Grace design store in Presidio Heights recently to celebrate the launch of Seaside Houses: Living on the Water (Rizzoli) penned by Nick Voulgaris with photography by Douglas Friedman.
The new 240-page tome features gorgeous coastal homes ranging from Giorgio Armani’s stunning Antigua hideaway to Martha Stewart’s Seal Harbor estate, as well as Sting’s Malibu digs, and boltholes in the Dominican Republic and the Hampton’s.
Ken Fulk’s charming cottage in Provincetown offers inspiration for perfecting seaside style with charm and irreverence. “I featured Douglas’s interiors photography in my new book, Mr. Ken Fulk’s Magical World, and I’m a huge fan of his work,” said Fulk, just back from working on a project in Provence.
Hudson Grace storeowners Gary McNatton and Monelle Totah also welcomed Lindsay Bolton, Anne-Sophie Deneve, Victoire Reynal Brown and Will Wick to their five-year-old design outpost, a favorite among Presidio Heights hosts.
Denise Hale, donning a chic silver jacket and Bulgari diamonds, joined the crush.“I love Douglas and especially his portraits,” said Hale, who recently returned from a trip to Venice.
Allison Speer was also in attendance, but without her Instagram-famous petite canine companion, a miniature dachshund, Coco. “Coco is resting from her busy social life,” quipped Speer, as Friedman signed several books.
The evening marked Friedman’s first California book party, before his and Voulgaris’s book will be feted in the Hamptons, New York and points beyond, all of them beside the water.
Guests chatting among the bright green topiaries also included Michael Bodziner, who designed the store interior, as well as Laura Pacchini.
