Together with decorator Ken Fulk, fashion designer Domenico Dolce, one-half of design duo Dolce & Gabbana, hosted a cocktail reception on Wednesday, March 6, in celebration of the release of his new tome, Queens: Alta Moda Di Dolce & Gabbana (Assouline, $$350), at Fulk’s Saint Joseph’s Arts Society in San Francisco.

“I first met Domenico three years ago at the Mid-Winter Gala in San Francisco,” said Fulk, whose venue features an exclusive Assouline book salon. “We discovered we were also neighbors in New York, and he and his partner, Gui, kindly invited me over for a spaghetti dinner. Last year, I attended the Alta Moda show in Lake Como and we planned this event to honor Domenico’s book.”

The throng of attendees included Misha Kordestani and her mother, Bita Daryabari, who are among the Bay Area women photographed in the new book wearing custom Dolce & Gabbana designs. Dolce said he began photographing a coterie of beautiful international women wearing his Alta Moda and Alta Gioielleria fashions two years ago. “I selected the subjects and prepared the clothes, accessories and jewelry for each of the ladies and photographed them in Baroque settings,” Dolce said.

Also perusing the pages of Queens were San Francisco Ballet principal dancers Carlo di Lanno and Sofiane Sylvie, along with Tatiana Sorokko, Elissa Patel and Benjamin Dhong.

A portion of the book’s proceeds will benefit Milan’s Accademia della Scala Foundation.
