de Gournay S.F. Showroom Opening
San Francisco just got a little bit more chic: treasured house of interiors de Gournay opened the doors to its new studio in Pacific Heights this month, bringing the London-based company’s exquisite line of home decor offerings to California for the first time. To celebrate the debut, the house’s founder, Claud Cecil Gourney, hosted distinguished names from the city’s design community, including visual artist Gwen Rayner and architect Andrew Skurman, at an opening party. The new showroom will offer the 31-year-old company’s coveted collection of classic and new hand-painted wallpapers—from charming flora-inspired Amazonia designs to its signature Chinoiserie appliqués that nod to East Asia—as well as its fine fabrics and porcelain. Patrons will find that the boutique itself might inspire a new aesthetic for their homes, with its flower-clad facade, dreamed up by local design guru and evening’s guest Jonathan Rachman, and colorfully embellished interiors.
