Christie’s Auction & Private Sales and California Institute of the Arts hosted an evening to celebrate the partnership of the auction house and the art school that highlighted the house’s Post-War and Contemporary Art exhibition and was held at Hedge Gallery in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 9. Christie’s Laura Nagle and Charlie Adamski joined CalArts trustees Melissa Draper and Joni Binder Shwarts in support of the new CalArts John Baldessari studio building in Los Angeles. The evening served as a preview of pieces taken from the Post-War and Contemporary Art collection, as well as other works donated by CalArts family and friends to be up for auction at Christie’s New York this May. Sales from that show will benefit the new studio, as well as CalArts student scholarships.
