826 Valencia held its first annual Bookeaters’ Bash at The St. Regis San Francisco on Saturday, May 10. After dinner was served, Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket) led a silent auction, and Ben Gibbard (of Deathcab for Cutie and formerly of the Postal Service) performed for guests including Phil Bronstein, Rachel Demy, Dave Eggers, and Nínive Calegari who attended the fundraising event (originally an annual daytime luncheon held each spring) in support of the organization’s mission to advance literacy and the writing skills of Bay Area students.
