In San Francisco, the weather is always top of mind, and it remained so on Friday, March 27, as the guests in gowns and starched tuxedo shirts made their way up the windy hill to the Legion of Honor. “It’s neither mid-winter nor wintery, but it’s definitely a gala,” joked IfOnly CEO Trevor Traina as he greeted them. The annual party, dreamed up by co-honorary chairs Traina and Vanessa Getty along with Allison Speer and Kathryn Lasater benefited the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and this year Christian Dior joined in as sponsor of the elegant evening party that took place in the museum currently home to High Style: The Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection. Standing beneath Auguste Rodin’s bronze sculpture, Traina said, “For a relatively small town, these museums bring some of the greatest works in the world to our city.” Kate Bosworth, Kate Mara, Suki Waterhouse, and Anne Vyalitsyna all donned dresses by Christian Dior for the party, and Getty confided that she purchased her black and white confection at the couturier’s Paris maison last fall. Todd and Katie Traina, Ken Fulk, Heather Ive, Jenny and Roman Coppola, Douglas Friedman, Victoire and Owsley Brown, Paul and Anne Sophie Deneve, Summer Thompkins Walker, Vandy Boudreau, Stanlee Gatti, Jeremy Stoppelman and Kelcey Morton, Adam Cahan, Michael and Xochi Birch, all got a look at the exhibition that includes gowns created by some of the most influential designers of the 20th century.

Lush florals and crystal glassware decorated tabletops at the gala as guests bid on auction lots including lunch at the new Dior boutique (slated to open in San Francisco later this year) and a private dinner at the de Young Museum where André Leon Talley’s retrospective honoring the late Oscar de la Renta will open in 2016.

Alexandra Richards served as the evening’s DJ, and, after dinner, she got the gala dance party started with Taylor Swift’s “Shaking It Off.” Guests did just that until after midnight.
