“Could we have had a more beautiful day?” asked Trevor Traina, who, alongside Vanessa Getty, served as honorary chair for the Mid-Winter Gala, an annual benefit for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco that took place at the city’s Legion of Honor on Saturday, March 8. “Could this be held in a more beautiful city or a more beautiful building?” he continued, noting that Salvatore Ferragamo oversaw every detail of the evening, from wildflowers atop mismatched tables to hanging crystal chandeliers in the museum’s tented marbled-columned courtyard. The setting evoked the Ferragamo family’s Italian palazzo in Florence. Getty seemed to share Traina’s sentiment; her white Ferragamo gown sewn with silver and gold sequins was a fitting homage to the sparkling sun that lit up the city earlier that afternoon.
Traina, who recently launched the philanthropic gift site IfOnly—a web-based concierge service curating events with talented chefs, athletes, musicians, and entertainers—welcomed tech guests including Apple’s senior vice president of design Jony Ive, and Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer. Vandy Boudreau breezily navigated the palazzo-themed setting by pairing her golden Ferragamo gown with sandals while Alexis Swanson Traina donned a sweet black gown made of delicate eyelet lace. Junior Committee chairs Allison Speer and Kathryn Lasater also dressed in darker tones sewn with sparkling sequins that reflected the masses of flickering candles atop each table. A host of gala goers, including Camilla Belle, Dylan Penn, and Kelly Sawyer Patricof—all clad in Ferragamo—as well as Rosetta and Balthazar Getty, Claiborne Swanson Frank and James Frank, Devon Aoki, and Dita Von Teese all arrived from Los Angeles for the event. East Coasters escaping New York’s endless winter included Lauren Remington Platt, Ashley Wick, Jessica Hart, and Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol of the Misshapes who also served as DJs for the evening. Traina told guests to “kick up your heels and have fun,” and that’s just what they did on this warm San Francisco night.
