Every Mother Counts + Coach Luncheon
On Thursday, May 14, maternal health advocate Christy Turlington Burns joined Jessica Capshaw to host her first Los Angeles lunch, with Coach, for Every Mother Counts (EMC) at Michael’s in Santa Monica. The event was a fundraiser for Burns’ nonprofit focused on making pregnancy and childbirth safer, and included speeches by Jennie Joseph of Florida’s The Birth Place, Racha Tahani Lawler of The Community Birth Center in L.A., and Heather Armstrong of the blog Dooce. The event has been held at Michael’s New York for the past four years, so Turlington Burns decided to head west for this gathering of friends, actresses, bloggers and stylists including Angela Lindvall, Malin Akerman, Elizabeth Berkley, Kilo Kish, Cher Coulter, Jessica de Ruiter, Liberty Ross, Erin Thornton, and Elaine Irwin. L.A.-based singer Jade Castrinos joined her parents Jennifer Brannick and George Castrinos (of Saint James Band) for a special performance at the EMC benefit.
