Tony Smith’s “Smoke,” installed on the first floor of the Ahmanson building, is a towering aluminum lattice that stands twenty-four feet high and spans forty-eight feet across. Smoke consists of forty-five octahedrons, eight-sided geometric shapes that resemble crystals.
