Spotlight: The Goodland
Goleta is back on the map again thanks to soon-to-open hotel, The Goodland. Situated just outside Santa Barbara, the surf-inspired Kimpton property offers 158 rooms, and perks from a Mexican Coca-Cola or Coronita upon check-in, a vintage house car, a Record Concierge (there are vintage Crosley record players in every room), a spa, and an outdoor swimming pool. Designed by Santa Monica–based design firm Studio Collective (of the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills) the pet-friendly hotel features a lobby lined with a fireplace and photo booth, and guestrooms layered with coastal-style furnishings such as wall-mounted surfboards, armchairs wrapped in rope and upholstered with tie-die fabric, sea glass lamps, and an assortment of vintage books. The outdoor area is fashioned with reclaimed sailcloth bean bags, vintage-inspired chaise longues, and fire pits.
Now, just in time for the opening on August 26, the hotel has rolled out a “Welcome to The Good Life” offer for pre-booking with more than 30-percent savings. The deal, ($298 for one night; $599 for two nights) includes a beach bag stocked with Goodland goodies, dinner for two at the on-site restaurant, Outpost, a private session with the Record Concierge to help curate a vinyl playlist, a one-hour cocktail crafting and tasting session, and a VIP pet service with hemp collars provided by Green Bean Dog in Santa Barbara.
Similar to its namesake, it’s unarguably destined to be nothing but a good thing. Book now through December 31.
