Spotlight: Texa Collection
Motorcycle jackets aren’t only meant to be worn on the open road anymore. Thanks to Texa Collection, an exclusive pillow line housed at San Francisco boutique Cavalier@Coup by decorators Jay Jeffers and Michael Purdy, vintage bomber jackets are making an entrance into the home. Designed by Lisa Guajardo and Jessica Moss, the bohemian-meets-modern pillows are crafted from an artful mix of salvaged leather, Persian horsehair, and found objects such as century-old French grain sacks. “We hunt for days, sometimes weeks, for the perfect piece to use for a specific design,” says Moss, who along with design partner Guajardo, frequents flea markets and vintage shops. “We are drawn to vintage motorcycle jackets because we are fascinated by the way leather distresses on the body over a long period of time. The garment is worn, and it has a story, and therefore transforms the material in a way that is so unique. No two pieces are ever alike, and that’s the definition of true luxury by having something that nobody else can ever possess.”
