Spotlight: Stella McCartney
The Bay Area style set is getting greener this holiday season. Stella McCartney—long admired for her vegetarian sensibility and crisp tailoring—has opened a new fur-free 1,200-square-foot boutique in Palo Alto with an installation created out of recycled tile made from wood wool and cement. The new store, based in the Stanford Shopping Center, also has a facade incorporating locally-sourced stone-and-shell aggregate and cube seats in the fitting rooms that are made of recycled foam. The new space is McCartney’s sixth American shop and includes women’s ready-to-wear collections, accessories (vegans snap up McCartney’s leather-free bags and shoes), lingerie, and kids clothes. Shelves are stocked with her whimsical resort 2015 collection incorporating hummingbird patterns, polka dots, stripes, and plenty of cut-outs. Tis the season.
