Spotlight: Social Prepardness Kit by Egg Press
If you thought letter writing and correspondence had taken a back seat to email and texting, think again. The new Social Preparedness Kit by Portland–based stationery company, Egg Press, is dutifully bringing the art form back to life. “The Social Prepardness Kit came from a desire to reduce the distance between thoughtfulness and thoughtful action by giving people tools and prompts to do so,” says Kara Yanagawa. The kits, available at select stores in California and online, are equipped with a variety of the essentials: canvas pouches, pen cases, tear-away notes, stamps, letterpress card sets (with an assortment of blank and thank-you notes) replete with a fiberglass tray for desktop organization, 52-weekly calendars, and to-do lists.
“We decided that having the right tools on hand is key, and being prepared with a favorite pen, a selection of greeted cards, blank notes, and a few stamps could mean the difference between thinking of someone and letting them know you are thinking of them,” adds Yanagawa. “Our hope is that the SPK will help folks flex their thoughtful muscles and that the tools will help create space for more letters more of the time.”
