As lists are being made and checked twice this holiday season, there’s one category of recipient that’s always more daunting than the rest: the DIY aficionado. It seems uninventive to buy something ready made for her, but do you dare create something yourself for him? Behold a made in California solution: MakersKit. The Los Angeles-based company compiles all the necessary pieces to create bespoke bitters, herb gardens, terrariums, cuff links, and even a potted evergreen. Online tutorials provide instructions so the gifted can follow along or improvise at will. Inspired givers can also get crafty at Westfield Fashion Square where MakersKit currently has a pop-up shop—complete with kits and in-store tutorials—that will remain open until January 5, 2016. Consider at least a few names on your list checked off.
