Gucci's Dionysus bag emblazoned with a hand-embroidered bee made of thin strips of metal wrapped in silk thread.

The buzz generated by Alessandro Michele’s first fall collection for Gucci has manifested—in the form of a giant embroidered bee—in the windows of the Italian fashion house’s Beverly Hills boutique. The new creative director’s surrealistic display includes an industrial rotating rail, reminiscent of those found in dry-cleaning shops, filled with dresses and shirts hanging above an embroidered snake. The vignette is lit with turquoise and purple LEDs, giving it a futuristic glow reminiscent of a Blade Runner version of L.A. with a dash of the Tokyo karaoke bars from Lost In Translation. The concept is elegant, yet retains the style and grit of city street life. The aforementioned bee hovers above, an eye trained on the new Dionysus handbag, a design with a double tiger-head closure, some of which also bear a smaller embroidered version of the pollinating insect. Fly by the Rodeo Drive boutique for a look.
