Salvatore Ferragamo is kicking off the new year by expanding its influence on Bay Area style. The Florence-based fashion house is relocating its San Francisco boutique from Geary Street to a new expanded Union Square space on Post Street complete with Italian-manufactured Mondrian walnut and Tunisian stone flooring. Ferragamo shoes have been a California staple since Hollywood starlets began wearing them in the ’20s, and the new boutique includes plenty of space for the storied shoe designs. There’s also a wall of screens depicting videos of the latest runway looks from the line’s Milan shows. The new shop with a two-story glass façade exterior is illuminated by true-to-color LED lighting and a custom ceiling light sculpture created by Italian manufacturer Artemide, known for its architectural designs. The 11,000-square-foot space houses the Italian luxury brand’s ready-to-wear collections designed by creative director Massimiliano Giornetti for men and women, along with handbags, luggage, jewelry, perfumes, accessories, and those perpetually sought-after shoes.
