Los Angeles furniture designer Dan Maddox, CEO of Cromatti, couldn’t quite find the perfect table for his own home, so he went ahead and created one. “The tables started because I couldn’t find a table I liked for my dining room,” says Maddox of his new collection of clean-lined nesting tables, console tables, as well as bar stools and benches. “It really was a ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ experience. For inspiration, I’ve always loved midcentury design, so a lot of the shapes are heavily influenced by it. And, for the materials, probably classic cars more than anything else.”

Made of items such as 16-gauge metal, sapphire glass, and genuine Italian leather, the designs can be customized to just about any color and configuration. “I just loved the process of creating my dining table and thinking about materials and shapes in a way I hadn’t thought of before, while trying to create something that was usable, but also attractive and durable. Part of what we’ve done with the business is allow some customization, so that customers that order pieces from us can experience that same thrill of designing something too.”
