The fashion invasion in San Francisco’s Union Square continues with the opening of the first CH Carolina Herrera boutique in the Bay Area. Located on Grant Avenue, the three-floor, 4500-square-foot shop is the brand’s largest American outpost. “I have always loved San Francisco. It’s such a beautiful city, rich in culture and full of women that love fashion,” said Herrera of the storied city and its famous shopping district. Herrera’s New York-based design team masterminded the look of the new store that houses men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections as well as shoes and accessories, and the resulting retail space reflects the Venezuelan-born designer’s signature elegance and relaxed luxury. Monogrammed crown-molding lines the boutique’s reclaimed wood ceilings and the floors are travertine stone. Men’s casual wear, tailored suits, colorful neckties, and lavish knits are housed in the menswear sections of the boutique amid gray walls, mahogany wood, black-and-white Italian marble checkered floors, and dressing rooms hidden behind mirrors. Women’s looks hang in the lofted penthouse where high-gloss surfaces contrast with black rugs, velvet curtains, and bold crimson-paneled walls. Herrera is known for wearing crisp oxford shirts with flowing skirts and the shop also holds an extensive collection of white blouses, tailored suits and the house’s famed evening gowns. The space is filled with notes of leather and fire from candles burning the CH Carolina’s Herrera custom fragrance Cuir et Feu. The scent and the extensive array of coffee table books give the impression of a lavish living room in one of Herrera’s houses.
