French label A.P.C.–known for its minimalist chic separates and accessories–has reopened in Los Angeles at a new address on Melrose Place. Previously housed on Croft Avenue, the new A.P.C. space boasts two entrances (one at Melrose Avenue and the other on Melrose Place) that lead to the 2,500-square-foot boutique designed by Paris-based architect Laurent Deroo, in collaboration with A.P.C. Creative Director and President Jean Touitou. The space features simple, yet alluring interiors–think 20-feet high Cathedral ceilings, latticework framing the glass exterior and monochromatic ceramic brick flooring that doubles as a natural coolant and as a homage to L.A.’s Hispanic history. Finishing touches include hanging quilts by Touitou’s friend designer Jessica Ogden (which make use of unused A.P.C. fabrics and are inspired by quilts made by Touitou’s mother in the ’80s) as well as wooden display cases. Outside, a garden of cacti and greenery native to the Golden State provides a focal point to the U-shaped building.

The Paris-based label currently has five locations in the United States, 4 of which are in New York, and plans to open two additional L.A. locations by end of year–one in Silverlake and one in Downtown L.A. Along with the label’s well-known styles, including the summer stock of casual tees, colorful jumpsuits, and sandals and the pre-fall lineup of light cream-colored knits, denim overalls and simple tunic dresses, the new boutique will also offer special T-shirts in honor of the L.A. reopening, which feature a “LA.P.C.” graphic along with the Melrose Place address in blue or gold print.
