“Give it up for my wonderful band,” said Solange Knowles who was dressed in a chic orange romper as she closed her set inside the Gobi tent on Saturday, April 12, at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, held in Indio. She had just concluded her performance with a synchronized dance with her older sister Beyoncé Knowles to “Losing You,” the first track on her 2012 album, True. “And give it up for my favorite dance partner, my favorite person in the world, my sister Beyoncé. Have the best time tonight, and this whole weekend… Drink, smoke, dance, feel good,” Solange told her audience who held phones aloft to capture the impromptu dance duet.

The artist’s evening presentation was filled with soulful, high-energy tunes and even a poignant cover of Kate Bush’s 1985 tune, “Cloudbusting.” Solange introduced the song praising the British singer and calling her “beautiful and one-of-a-kind.”

Midweek, between Coachella appearances, Solange turned up at the Levi’s Haus in Hollywood to spin at the San Francisco-based denim company’s Haus Party held on Wednesday, April 16. She kept her wild mane of Diana Ross-inspired hair, but traded in her romper for a pair of 501 CT jeans (CT refers to the customized and tapered cut), one of 100 pairs of vintage 501 pants handpicked from a batch of jeans made in America from 1984 to 1998 that were recently reworked inside Levi’s Bay Area-based Eureka Lab. The company also repurposed 100 pairs of 501 cutoffs for festival season, so denim aficionados will be on watch to see if Solange turns up wearing a pair during her weekend two Coachella performance.
