Scene and Heard: Minnie Mortimer
“I’m into natural beauty and neutral colors,” said Minnie Mortimer at a Clinique beauty party on Tuesday, October 15, held in West Hollywood on the Sunset Tower Hotel’s terrace. Mortimer reminisced about her history with the cosmetics line at the event she co-hosted with interior designer Nathan Turner, “I started wearing Clinique in boarding school. I was drawn to it because of the light smell, I really don’t like heavy fragrances.” The L.A.-based fashion designer joined guests including Mary McDonald, Hannah Soboroff, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and Anita Ko to get a first look at the company’s recently reformulated Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, part of the line’s famed three-step skincare regimen. “I know a lot of people who do a 12-step program,” joked Decades boutique owner Cameron Silver.
Wisecracks aside, Mortimer, offered this skincare tip: “I keep my tube of Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector in the fridge. That way the metal tip gets cold and it really works to de-puff under my eyes.” But, when it comes to her 4-½-year-old daughter, Tuesday, Mortimer remains strict. “I only let her paint her toes once in a while, as a treat,” she says before conceding that the preschooler already has a penchant for makeovers. “The other day she stole my lipstick and drew all over her face, which made her so happy.”
