“Now everybody, every single person at this festival, I want you to turn to each other and embrace each other,” said Florence Welch, of Florence and the Machine, during her performance on Saturday, May 28, at BottleRock Napa Valley, held at the Napa Valley Expo grounds. “Tell each other that you love each other, because you do,” she added. “Kiss each other, touch each other’s faces. Now, I want everybody to take something off and wave it above your head like a flag. Wave it for love, wave it for peace, wave it because you have been released!” Welch herself waved a tambourine while pacing the stage in a diaphanous mustard yellow Gucci dress designed by the line’s creative director Alessandro Michele. With those emphatic words, the barefoot singer/songwriter roused her audience onto their feet for the finale of her much-anticipated set as evening set in over the famed wine region.
