“I’m grateful to Bulgari and to Save the Children for allocating funds to my hometown of Queens, New York, in Far Rockaway which was not only reeling from poverty but also from the disaster of Hurricane Sandy,” said actor Adrien Brody just before a cocktail party on Tuesday, February 17, at Spago in Beverly Hills, that was held to celebrate the launch of a new book, Stop Think Give (Rizzoli), a collection of over 250 portraits commissioned by the Italian jewelry house in partnership with the global charity and shot by Fabrizio Ferri. The volume includes images of actors and celebrities wearing Bulgari silver and ceramic rings or pendants that benefit the children’s charity known for providing food, education, and heath care to children in need both in America and abroad. To date, the program that began six years ago has raised $35 million. “Children’s welfare is, in my opinion, probably the most important thing we can work towards,” added Brody. “This goes beyond monetary support, this goes to creating a sense of nurturing for children so that they feel less isolated, so that as they develop they become more a part of the world and feel united together. If you look at what ails this world today, most of that, unfortunately, comes at childhood: racism, anti-semitism, violent tendencies, poor health. Much of this can be avoided and a lot of it through education and the proper systems in place and care,” he said.
