Scene and Heard: Peter Fonda

A host of talent, including actor Peter Fonda, turned up to introduce performers at the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and Opening Night Concert on Saturday, June 22, benefiting the L.A. Philharmonic and its education programs. On this warm summer evening, Fonda welcomed Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to the stage, noting that Aerosmith performed in Japan after the 2011 earthquake that triggered a disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. “Joe and Steven didn’t care about risk from radioactivity. They’ve always been a bit radioactive themselves,” Fonda said. The comment triggered cheers from the audience which included Tyler’s daughters Mia and Chelsea (and also Chelsea’s boyfriend and badbad bandmate Jon Foster). Tyler and Perry proved his point by sauntering onto the stage singing, “Love in an Elevator.”
