Postcards From… The Met Gala

Editors' Notes

"Walking up the grand staircase with the punks lining both the American and British flags. Wearing flats (yes, flats) under my long gown helped lessen the intimidation factor of these steep stairs."

Editors' Notes

"I am wearing Oscar de la Renta with a David Webb necklace and cuff."

Editors' Notes

"Pink roses were omnipresent and omni-beautiful."

Editors' Notes

"The ambiance was stunning and magical."

Editors' Notes

"The table decor was simple and beautiful with planted flowers and lots of votive candles. The napkins had "PUNK" painted on each one. The juxtaposition between the elegance of the table and the punk attire was great fun."

Editors' Notes

"Debbie Harry was the surprise performer of the evening. She rocks! Everyone sang along and danced with her."

Editors' Notes

"Site of the cocktail reception. In about 15 minutes, this room was packed."

Editors' Notes

"Elizabeth Hurley's ubiquitous Versace "safety pin dress" from 1994 is on the left."

Editors' Notes

"Late night snacks at The Mark Hotel. Oh look, my dress matches the floor."

Editors' Notes

"A cappuccino at Sant Ambroeus  in the West VIllage is a requirement the morning after."

Hollye Jacobs began her inspirational blog The Silver Pen as an outlet to convey the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual journey she experienced  during treatment for breast cancer. Now in remission, the pediatric nurse and Santa Barbara resident has expanded the site to include topics every woman can appreciate, from finding the silver linings in style and food to family and adventure. This week, Jacobs traveled to New York City for the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. Here, she shares some memorable moments from the fashionable fête.
