Los Angeles-based lifestyle blogger Lauren Gores Ireland, the creative mind behind Lauren’s Lyst, recently decamped to New York to see the spring collections presented during Fashion Week. Ireland found Manhattan transformed into a charming chaotic playground where streets became backdrops for Instagram frenzies as street style stars walked from show to show. Still, the Michigan native managed to carve out time to dine at Chef Michael Anthony’s new restaurant inside the Whitney Museum, stock up on sweets inside Chelsea Market, and picnic in Central Park. Here, Ireland’s recounts her favorite haunts in New York, from show venues to open spaces where she escaped during one of the busiest seasons of year.

STAY

1 HOTEL CENTRAL PARK A space that feels like you’ve jumped into Restoration Hardware! The environmentally conscious hotel features raw wood paneling, bedside succulents, recyclable room keys and cozy benches that peek into Central Park, creating an idyllic New York moment.

DINE

DEAN + DELUCA The open space of Central Park feels like an L.A. girl’s oasis while staying in the city. It’s the one area where I can step back into greenery and open spaces. I’ve made a habit out of stopping by Dean + Deluca for bread, cheeses, drinks and flowers before wandering over to the park for a picnic.

ABC KITCHEN The airy atmosphere paired with fresh foods make it the perfect spot to refuel and rejuvenate. Plus, its cocktail menu features the chicest-looking watermelon drink you’ll ever sip.

UNTITLED This trendy spot became a go-to while I was in New York because of its proximity to a lot of the fashion shows. The best part? The desserts! I had to try the blueberry marble cake and decadent cookies dipped in a glass of milk.

PLAY

NYFW I spent most of my time hopping from show to show. There’s something dreamlike about witnessing a designer’s work in such a way. The anticipation in the room is always palpable, as the lights dim and the music starts. The designers’ native roots played a large part in the shows this season, from the music, to the clothes, to the hair and makeup.

CHELSEA MARKET You’ll find boutique shops, quaint candy stores, flower marts, fish markets and sweet treats all in one spot. Plus, it’s indoors, which makes it an ideal spot for a rainy day in the city.

CENTRAL PARK As someone who needs alone time in a bustling city, I go for runs through Central Park. This gives me a chance to clear my mind in nature.
