Perfect Pairing: Stephen Kenn + Longjourney
Repurposed motorcycle jackets and vintage sweatshirts are getting a second life in a new collaboration between furniture designer Stephen Kenn and Longjourney menswear founders Alonzo Ester and Alex Carapetian. The project, debuting at JF Chen in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 21, includes a pair of black leather armchairs upholstered with panels from motorcycle jackets, and a sofa with a black nickel frame and cushions covered with strips of waxed vintage sweatshirts. It’s no surprise that the modern designs come from Kenn, Ester, and Carapetian, who are all L.A.-based, and share a fascination with clean lines, vintage fabrics and sustainable materials. The new collaboration allows these creatives to experiment with new ways to use materials and to further develop their innovative ideas. Pull up a chair and see what they’ve devised.
