Perfect Pairing: Pamela Love + RE/DONE
It was creative love at first sight when RE/DONE denim co-founder Sean Barron met Pamela Love at a Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) event a few years ago. Collaborative sparks flew during the initial conversations with Love about her spiritual jewelry designs and her love of vintage denim. So it’s no surprise that the two brands have now teamed up to launch RE/DONE | Pamela Love jeans, a series of one-of-a-kind high-rise and skinny jeans inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo as well as Mexican and Guatemalan textiles. Love looked to Mexican folklore for her most recent jewelry collection and continued to research it for this collaboration. Barron’s RE/DONE, an online company he co-founded with Jamie Mazur to seek out vintage Levi’s and recreate them in current denim cuts, supplied the jeans and workmanship for the project. RE/DONE takes each pair of denim apart at the seams, then recreates them in downtown Los Angeles using methods that conserve water and avoid the harsh chemicals frequently used to create aged denim. In this collaboration, each pair of jeans has a colorful swatch of serape fabric at the waist and outside ankle, and a vegetable-tanned leather patch on the back pocket. Feel the love.
