“Typically any time I have a chance to give my creativity a new outlet, I find it so refreshing,” says Michelle Madsen, whose new collaboration with boutique shopping destination, Madison Los Angeles, will be just that. As part of the storefront’s new Blogger Series—which taps rising-star bloggers create her own pop-up shop—Madsen will curate special window and shop-in-shop displays for the month of September. The Downtown denizen, who has made a name for herself with her fashion and lifestyle blog Take Aim (beloved for it’s shoppable trends and compelling imagery), had trouble parting with her selection: “I could have left with literally everything in the store,” she quips. Here, C chats with the style influencer on her latest creative venture.

How many looks did you select to be featured and amongst those what were your favorite?
Madison L.A. has so many great pieces, but my pop up shop will include at least 10 different looks that are great for fall. My favorites were for sure the Citizens of Humanity jeans I photographed. Love the detail at the ankles!

What type of girl do you envision shopping your displays?
I feel like my selection is pretty versatile, and I definitely chose things that I would wear myself. The type of girl I envision shopping my displays would probably be a big-city lover and frequent traveler who’s pretty laid back, but likes to be just a little dressed up. Some of the looks are more on the minimal end, but I do still like my color!

What is the inspiration behind your exclusive selection?
Since it’s fashion month, I really wanted to go with something that brings the runway excitement to L.A. I love all of the lights, the crowds, the matching fabrics and incredible design. Aside from that, I love to incorporate geometric shapes, pastel tones and editorial-style fonts and layouts into my branding, so the window display is meant to bring all of it together.

What are your top five must-have pieces from your Madison picks?
Madison black sandals, WANT Les Essentiels bag, Rag & Bone shirt, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Jil Sander shoes

What fall trend are you loving the most?
There are so many good trends this fall, so that’s a difficult one to answer. I’m going to have to go with suede heels, hankies and hats. I love that suede heels look like fall but feel like summer, and that there are a million different ways to wear hankies (I actually just posted about that!). Hats are good in any season, but this fall I’m especially loving Janessa Leone’s hats.

How does this collaboration help highlight your individual creativity and style? What is your favorite aspect of participating?
It’s nice to break away from the blog-post medium for a change and do something more hands on. I felt like with the window display, I basically got to take what I do and make it 3D which was a fun challenge.

What can fans expect from your blog Take Aim this Fall?
A ton of traveling! I’m going all over the place this fall, starting with NYFW. I’m really excited to be posting daily recaps of my outfits and behind the scenes of some events I’ll be attending there. I’m also getting excited to launch my new website soon, so be on the look out for that!
