Perfect Pairing: Juergen Teller + Nicholas Ghesquière
This season’s most anticipated fashion show wrapped on Wednesday, March 5, when Nicolas Ghesquière followed the last Louis Vuitton model clad in his fall 2014 ready-to-wear designs onto the runway at the Cour Carée in Paris’ Louvre Palace. Looks included short A-line dresses and skirts that had a mod feel to them, and industrial zippers got plenty of play. Ankle boots and leather cut-outs on clothes gave the designs a 21st-century look that guests with varying backgrounds including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Catherine Deneuve, Cindy Sherman, and Princess Charlene of Monaco could all appreciate. Fittingly, the French fashion house celebrated the first ready-to-wear collection created by a designer other than Marc Jacobs with Juergen Teller’s 12 photographs of models who walked the runway for Ghesquière including San Francisco-based Maggie Rizer. Here’s a look at Teller’s take on Rizer and five other girls clad in Ghesquière’s work as well as other runway designs and guests who got a glimpse of his first collection for LVMH.
