Emeralds bring to mind both classic snapshots of Elizabeth Taylor’s accessories and the Technicolor residence of a certain wizard who landed in Oz. But this holiday season, the gemstone is reemerging in chic new designs dreamed up by Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche. She’s collaborating with Gemfields on a collection of necklaces and body chains dotted with the brilliant green mineral for online fine jewelry shop, Stone & Strand. The emeralds and amethysts are ethically sourced from mines in Zambia and Mozambique, and each is added to the handmade pieces Aiche creates. The gold bracelets that twist to adorn hands from fingers to wrists and necklaces dripping with tiny green gemstones add a dash of color rivaled only by decorated evergreens.
