The Fendi boutique in Rome.

“What better place for Fendi to open its biggest boutique in the world than in an 18th-century edifice in the heart of Rome, its home town?” asks stylist and designer Erica Pelosini. After the fashion flock gathered for the collections in Milan, Fendi moved the festivities to Rome, threw a fete for the new space, and also toured the fashion flock through its new Roman headquarters inside the six-story Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Pelosini was on hand for the celebration, and captured a few snaps around Rome while in town. The austere headquarters, clad in travertine marble underwent an 18-month renovation, and Pelosini says the building now includes “an in-house fur atelier, a Palazzo Prive apartment, Fendi suites, and the newly-opened restaurant Zuma.” Karl Lagerfeld, one of Fendi’s creative directors, who designs the women’s collections, was on hand for the boutique launch along with creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi who creates the line’s menswear and accessories. Pelosini calls the evening, “a magical night of dancing under the stars on the rooftop of palazzo Fendi overlooking la bella Roma.”
